National Professional Qualifications for Middle Leaders (NPQML)

NPQML is aimed at individuals with responsibility for leading a team, including key stage, subject or curriculum leaders, heads of department and pastoral leaders. The National Professional Qualification for Middle Leadership (NPQML) is a qualification that provides national recognition of your leadership development and professional achievement as a middle leader. The programme is aimed at individuals in primary, secondary and special school settings with responsibility for leading a team, which may include key stage leaders, curriculum area leaders, pastoral services, subject leaders, heads of department or SENCOs. This qualification is designed to support you in becoming a highly effective middle leader with skills, confidence and knowledge to drive successful team performance and improve classroom practice.

National Professional Qualifications for Senior Leaders (NPQSL)

The National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL) is a qualification that provides national recognition of your leadership development and professional achievement as a senior leader.
The NPQSL is aimed at senior leaders in primary, secondary and special school settings with cross-school responsibilities. This includes experienced middle leaders, deputy heads, assistant heads and other senior staff looking for further professional development but not aspiring to headship at this stage in their career.

National Professional Qualification for Headship

The National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) is the nationally accepted route into headship and the content of this qualification has been developed in partnership with some of the best school leaders in the country. Our partners Inspiring Leaders aims to develop and deliver the best possible route into headship by utilising the content combined with input, inspiration and expertise from experienced, outstanding headteachers, providing participants with a gold standard route into headship. It is expected participants will complete the programme within 12-18 months.

Diocesan Schools’ Continuing Development Programme

The Diocesan Schools’ Service understands that to ensure our academies and schools provide the best possible Catholic education we must have professional, highly trained and motivated teams working in and supporting them. The Diocesan Schools’ Continuing Development Programme details the training available for classroom practitioners, aspiring school leaders at all levels, members of schools’ Senior Leadership Teams, Trustees and Governors. The Diocesan Schools’ Continuing Professional Development Programme aims to provide training and development for all staff, trustees and governors of diocesan schools to support them in their ambition to provide good and outstanding Catholic education. We are constantly reviewing and seeking to improve the training and development opportunities we provide to schools and I hope you find the courses on offer will help you in delivering your important contribution to Catholic education in the Diocese.
